TibMET 3 / TTM 2 - Sowa Rigpa Materia Medica with Dr. Jinpa | Jun 2025
Learn the foundation of Sowa Rigpa herbal studies!
Herbal study is a very important topic in Tibetan Medicine. More than 70% of the pharmacopeia is based on herbs. This study is diffused in the whole program, with basic herbs and formulas being introduced here in a concise way allowing going in depth into herbalism. Specific herbs and advanced formulas are then gradually introduced in subsequent Pharmacology class.
Our Pharmacology studies consist of two modules with the following content:
TibMET 3/TTM 2 Materia Medica (9 h)
• Categories of materia medica
• Study of herbs and other substances
TibMET 3/TTM 2 Pharmacology (21 h)
• Pharmaceutical aspects
• Principles of application
• Pacifying and Purgative medication
• Formulation
This first module in Materia Medica consists of five live interactive online lectures totaling 9 hours with Dr. Tenzing Jinpa Bhutia, Principal of Sowa Rigpa International College in Kathmandu, Nepal.
